PWiK Gliwice implements a remote water meter reading system based on AIUT AIUNEO technology

October 22, 2025 – The Municipal Water and Sewage Company (PWiK) in Gliwice, Poland, has signed an agreement with AIUT for the delivery and implementation of a modern IoT-based remote water meter reading system. The project will be carried out by AIUNEO, an AIUT division specializing in smart technologies for utilities and industrial sectors.

A new stage of digital transformation in Gliwice’s water management

Under a contract worth over PLN 2.8 million, AIUT will deliver and implement 6,000 communication modules enabling real-time remote meter readings. The project also includes a complete IT system for data collection, visualization, and analysis.

The solution will allow PWiK Gliwice to automatically obtain consumption data without the need for manual meter readings. Data will be transmitted using NB-IoT (LPWAN) technology and fully integrated with the company’s existing billing and operational systems.

This initiative marks another milestone in the digital transformation of Gliwice’s water infrastructure, following the implementation of eBOK, eInvoice, and online payment services. The rollout is scheduled for 2025–2026.

Gliwice among the leaders of digital transformation

PWiK Gliwice joins the group of Polish water utilities implementing Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for remote meter reading. Similar projects based on AIUT’s solutions have already been deployed, including a LoRaWAN-based system for MPWiK Wrocław.

The Gliwice project stands out for its comprehensive scope, covering both metering devices and a central analytical platform, strengthening the city’s position among national leaders in the digitalization of water services.
